Join the Celebration: Ten Years of Sharing and Caring Together

Patient and Family Advisors
Patient Family Advisors (PFAs) are dedicated volunteers who play an important role in shaping the landscape of health care for the better. Some of them will be at this year’s Sharing and Caring Together Exhibition to share their stories.

The week of September 23rd – 27th marks 10 years since Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre adopted a philosophy of Patient and Family Centred Care (PFCC). Everyone is welcome to celebrate and learn about the positive impact of PFCC for patients, families and staff.

The Sharing and Caring Together Exhibition will take place on Tuesday, September 24th from 10 am until 4 pm. All are welcome to stop in and enjoy a coffee, generously provided by St. Paul Roastery, and visit various booths highlighting PFCC successes. Featured exhibits include our newly opened Ibn Sina SIM lab, and local artists interpreting their health care journey through their craft.

Guests will also learn about Patient Family Advisors (PFAs), the dedicated volunteers who recognized the opportunity for improvement within their own care journeys. Our PFAs range from former Paediatric patients to Octogenarians and each is vital to adapting our health care system to meet our community’s ever-changing needs. PFAs play an important role in shaping the landscape of health care for the better. Hear some of their profound stories at the exhibition.

Sharing & Caring Weeks will also feature various Lunch and Learns on current topics of significance in health care.  These are open to all interested parties who wish to attend.  Each lunch and learn will be available via the OTN network for those unable to attend in person.
