The Stroke Program is comprised of the Clinical Stroke Team and the Northwestern Ontario Regional Stroke Network. The Clinical Stroke Team is a multidisciplinary team comprised of physicians, nurses, an occupational therapist, physiotherapist, speech-language pathologist, dietitian, pharmacist and social worker. The team emphasizes multidisciplinary assessment, consultation and intervention to provide comprehensive, holistic and culturally appropriate care that is based on stroke best practices in Acute Care and Secondary Prevention. The Northwestern Ontario Regional Stroke Network is comprised of a Medical Lead and regional roles to support the uptake of stroke best practices and seeks to optimize stroke care. Regional Stroke Network activities span across the region and the continuum of care which encompasses public awareness, prevention, hyperacute and acute care, rehabilitation, community and long-term care.
