Indigenous people, particularly those from remote Northern communities, face unique challenges to access to health care. We aim to improve experiences and outcomes for Indigenous patients and families by providing care that is culturally relevant and sensitive, in a welcoming environment.

“Our journey towards excellence in Indigenous health care delivery begins with improving access to culturally appropriate health services.”

Our goals are to:

  • Provide care that improves self-management, access, experience, and transition to home for Indigenous patients;
  • Provide health care that respects traditional knowledge, and practices, and builds our Hospital as a leader in the provision of health care for Indigenous patients and their families.

Respecting Indigenous knowledge, traditions and culture means ensuring sensitivity in the care we provide. We are committed to enhancing experiences and outcomes for Indigenous patients and their families.
