The City of Thunder Bay is encouraging future physicians and health care professionals to consider Thunder Bay as a potential career location. The Annual Home for the Holidays Health Care Student Reception returns once again this year and will celebrate its 15th Anniversary. This year’s event will take place on Monday, December 21st at St. Joseph’s Heritage.

Health Care students have the opportunity to meet with local health care organizations and discuss career opportunities that may exist in their field of study. It is also an opportunity for the local health care organizations to demonstrate new advancements and facility updates to these prospective students. The goal for the event is to have these students network with these organizations and learn about future potential professional opportunities here in Thunder Bay

The advantage of this event is that health care students can be informed of the potential career opportunities as well as personally meet with local recruitment teams to discuss potential opportunities available to them.

“When students initiate a direct, personal connection during their studies with local organizations, it can help create a foundation for a mutually beneficial relationship in the future for both the employer and the student”, says Brady Lucas, Community Relations Coordinator with the City of Thunder Bay. “There are numerous professional options available through a number of organizations and areas of focus. Thunder Bay is very appreciative of its health care students and would love welcome home health care students who choose to work in Thunder Bay.”

Some of the local organizations that will be present are St. Joseph’s Care Group, Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, the Northern Ontario School of Medicine, NorWest Community Health Centres, Lakehead Nurse Practitioner Led Clinic, Medical Diagnostics & Consulting and the Thunder Bay Naturopathic Clinic. The event is hosted by the City of Thunder Bay, the Local Northern Ontario School of Medicine Group Thunder Bay and RBC Royal Bank.
