COVID-19 Outbreak on 2B Medical Inpatient Unit Declared Over

The COVID-19 outbreak that was declared March 30, 2021, on Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre (TBRHSC)’s 2B Medical Inpatient Unit is over.
As of May 1, 2021, it has been 14 days from the last exposure with no new cases among staff or patients and all control measures put in place were discontinued. The declaration is made in collaboration with the Thunder Bay District Health Unit (TBDHU) and Infection Prevention & Control (IPAC). Thank you to the many staff and professional staff who provided expertise to successfully manage the outbreak.
The health and safety of all staff, professional staff, patients and the community is our utmost priority. TBRHSC will continue applying the routine practices of hand hygiene, proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), equipment cleaning, and the appropriate admission screening of all patients.
