The Cardiovascular Rehabilitation Program is designed to help participants take steps to reduce the risk factors they can change and lead a healthier lifestyle. The information in this section is designed to help participants make those lifestyle changes with education, resources, and sample programs to get you started. However, anyone can follow these guidelines to set SMART goals to reduce the risk of a first or subsequent heart attack (please ask your primary care provider to ensure any diet, exercise, or other tips are safe for you).
The most important step in your new journey is for you to decide that you want to get healthier for yourself.
Goal Setting
When you are striving to reach a healthier version of yourself, you may need to make small or large changes to your current routine. For some, this can be overwhelming. Setting goals will help you stay focused and track your progress while making your lifestyle changes.
When you begin setting your goals, make them SMART goals:
- Specific
- Measureable
- Achievable
- Relevant
- Timely
