Reminder on Mandatory Masking at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre

For the protection of all, masks are mandatory while inside the Hospital to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

As COVID-19 cases continue to increase in our community it is important that we remind everyone that masks are mandatory at our Hospital.

The health and safety of patients, staff, professional staff and the community is our Hospital’s primary priority. For the protection of all, masks are mandatory while inside the Hospital to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. This measure is in alignment with the City of Thunder Bay, the Thunder Bay District Health Unit and Ontario Health directions. Wearing a mask helps to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and helps protect you and the people who are around you. Since some people may have the COVID-19 virus and not know it, everyone must wear a mask when inside the Hospital.

As the only acute care hospital in Northwestern Ontario, an outbreak of COVID-19 would threaten access to specialized acute care for all people in our region.

Asking everyone who enters our Hospital to wear a mask can help to prevent the spread of COVID-19 to other patients, visitors and our health care providers, especially in areas where physical distancing is not possible. If you have a medical reason for not being able to wear a mask, you must provide signed documentation from your health care provider to confirm this.

We are asking all patients and individuals coming to our Hospital to wear a mask as an added step to reduce the spread of germs and protect vulnerable patients. We thank you for your cooperation and consideration of others in our community.
