Due to the measles epidemic in southern Ontario and to help protect patients, families and staff, Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre has begun screening upon entry to the Hospital at points of registration.

Due to the measles epidemic in southern Ontario and to help protect patients, families and staff, Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre has begun screening upon entry to the Hospital at points of registration.

You will be asked the following when checking in to your appointment:

  • Have you had an exposure to measles in the past 28 days?
  • Have you travelled outside of Canada, or to an area with increased measles infections, in the past 21 days?
  • Do you have any of the following symptoms? Cough, fever, runny nose, pink eye, or rash?

If you answer ‘yes’ to any of these questions, please put a mask on and inform the receptionist right away.

You will also be asked if you know your measles immunity status. If the answer is ‘no’, please put a mask on and inform the receptionist right away.

A reminder that masks are available at all of our public entrances on the sanitizing stands. Please make use of the hand sanitizer dispensers available throughout the Hospital.
