Hospital Board Director Appointed to the Order of Canada

Pat Lang is one of 75 people to be appointed to the Order of Canada as a Member as part of Canada’s 150th anniversary.

Pat Lang is a member of Board of Directors of the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre. She is also a member of the Order of Canada. The extraordinary honour comes with an insignia, which was presented to Ms. Lang in a recent ceremony.

“We are extremely proud to have a fellow Board member receive one of Canada’s highest civilian honours,” said Nadine Doucette, Hospital Board Chair. “Pat’s commitment to the growth and development of Ontario’s colleges as a long-time academic administrator is a true reflection of the dedication and passion she brings to everything she does.”

The Order of Canada citation states, “Pat Lang is passionate about changing lives through learning. As a student-centered academic leader, she has influenced the growth of programs, enrollment and facilities at several colleges in Ontario and Quebec, notably during her presidency at Confederation College. Admired for her collaborative and authentic style, she established partnerships to improve access to education for Aboriginal students, and to enhance employment opportunities for graduates. In addition, she shared her talents as an engaged leader in both the college system and her community.”

“We are proud to have Pat serve as a member on the Hospital Board, and particularly value the expertise she offers as our organization continues to grow as an Academic Health Sciences Centre. Pat’s involvement is helping us achieve our Vision of ‘Healthy Together’,” said Doucette.
