Training for Visiting Health Care Providers

As an Academic Health Sciences Centre, Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre (TBRHSC) will offer visiting health care providers an opportunity to access training within our organization.

It will be the shared responsibility of the sending facility, receiving department, and Academic Affairs to ensure appropriate paperwork and orientation is in place for each trainee.

What is everyone responsible for?

Receiving Department

  1. Complete the “Training Checklist for Visiting Health Care Providers” and collect all required documentation.
  2. Required documents include:
    • Proof of Liability insurance from sending facility – Minimum $5 million
    • Signed Confidentiality Agreement (IS-SEC-005-A)
    • Signed Trainee Safety Checklist
  3. Orientation:
  4. Ensure trainee wears ID badge from sending facility while on site
  5. Once orientation is completed, forward all documents to Academic Affairs for filing.

Academic Affairs

  1. To ensure Training Agreement is completed and signed before training begins.
  2. Provide guidance to receiving departments.
  3. Track all training occurring at TBRHSC by using the Training Checklist for Visiting Healthcare Providers forwarded from the receiving department.
  4. Store all documents submitted by receiving department.

Sending Facility

  1. Refer to signed Training Agreement.
