Respect
by Maryanne Matthews
Respect is one of Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre’s (TBRHSC) core values. Sarah Schoales, Volunteer Coordinator & HR Intern, is an example of a respectful TBRHSC employee.
Coworkers rave about Sarah’s positive and generous personality. To Sarah, respect means “valuing every person you interact with in a day, regardless of what is happening in the moment.”
Sarah’s respectful nature is appreciated by employees, patients and families at TBRHSC – so much so that it won her a Walk the Talk Award. Each year, TBRHSC distributes Walk the Talk Awards in a number of categories to acknowledge and reward employees and physicians who go above and beyond in their work. The Respect Award is given to an individual who creates and encourages positive attitudes, beliefs and behaviours that recognizes the importance of others and is an ambassador of respect at TBRHSC.
TBRHSC and its employees are proud supporters of the city-wide respect. initiative. Visit www.tbrhsc.net to learn more about how TBRHSC practices respect every day.
