As a result of the rapid climb in cases, Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre must implement precautions to protect the patients, Essential Care Partners, staff and professional staff of our Hospital. As the only provider of acute and specialized health care services in our region, steps must be taken to ensure critical services continue to be available to those who need them.

Travel restrictions reinstated at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre for the protection of all

The health and safety of all staff, professional staff, patients, care partners and the community is our utmost priority. In response to the rise in COVID-19 cases in Ontario, travel restrictions will be reinstated at our Hospital. Effective Tuesday, October 6th, travel outside of Northern Ontario (Parry Sound to the Manitoba border) in the past seven days will result in a failed entrance screening.

Located in Confederation College’s Sibley Hall Residence Activity Room, the alternative COVID-19 Assessment Centre site improves access to COVID-19 testing for students, parents and families, teachers and other school personnel including bus drivers. The collaborative approach to establishing this centre is in response to the exceptionally high demand for testing that has arisen across the province since students returned to school.

The award honours outstanding Ontario physicians with a broad range of diverse roles and abilities.
