Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre Welcomes New and Returning Board Members at Annual Meeting

TBRHSC’s 2025/2026 Annual Report was also released and highlights some of the successes of the 2025/2026 fiscal year.

Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre (TBRHSC) celebrated another year of success at the Annual Meeting of the Corporation on June 18, 2026, and are pleased to announce the members of our Board of Directors for 2026-27.

Continuing their terms of office on the Board are Christine Bates, Charles Campbell, Dr. Andrew Dean, James Peotto, Kimberly Ferris, Michael Pelletier, Matthew Aiken and Marla Morrison.

Joining the Board are new members Maura Dunk, Erin Somerleigh, Angela Maltese, and Andrew Campbell.

We bid farewell to Patricia Lang, Matt Simeoni, Gord Wickham, and Joy Wakefield, who, during their three terms with the Board of Directors honoured us with passion and dedication to the Hospital and the region. We also recognize and thank Darlene Furlong for her valuable contributions during her three years of service as a Community Committee member as she concludes her term.

Christina Foresto was appointed to a three-year term as the new Community Member on the Governance and Nominating Committee and Amanda Zappitelli was appointed to a three-year term as the new Community Member on the Patient Safety and Quality of Care Committee.

The Board includes the following ex-officio Directors:

  • Rhonda Crocker Ellacott, President and CEO
  • Adam Vinet, Chief Nursing Executive
  • Laura Power, Chief of Staff
  • Michael Green, Dean, President and CEO, NOSM University
  • Sonja Lubbers, President, Professional Staff Association

At the Inaugural meeting of the Board of Directors, held immediately following the Annual Meeting, the Officers of the Corporation were elected as follows:

  • Chair – Christine Bates
  • First Vice Chair – Dr. Andrew Dean
  • Second Vice Chair – Matthew Aiken
  • Board Treasurer – Charles Campbell

Matthew Aiken was elected as Chair of the Patient Safety and Quality of Care Committee. Kimberly Ferris was elected as Chair of the Health Human Resources Committee.

Returning and new members were welcomed and congratulated on their commitment to membership and extending their expertise for the upcoming term.
