Understanding Your Diagnosis, Treatment, and Medications
Understanding your diagnosis, treatment, and medications is important. Your health team probably gave you a lot of information about your heart health. However, it can be overwhelming trying to remember everything – especially if they gave you the information after a heart event or procedure.
The University Health Network (UHN) launched the Cardiac College website to help you and your loved ones get the basic information you need. This website answers many common questions including:
- What is heart disease?
- What are the risk factors?
- How can you lower your risk factors?
- How do you treat heart disease?
- What do my medications do?
It may be helpful to have a pen and paper with you as you review. This way, you can write down any specific questions about your own heart health when you see your doctor or specialist next.
