Inaugural Summit aimed at health care professionals kicks off at the Hospital

The Summit theme "Partners in Excellence" will offer a regional platform to share information that is vital, significant and a future vision for cardiovascular and stroke care in Northwestern Ontario.

Health care professionals from across the region are participating in the inaugural Cardiovascular & Stroke Summit at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre (the Hospital) and the Victoria Inn, which runs from May 31st to June 1st.

The Summit theme “Partners in Excellence” will offer a regional platform to share information that is vital, significant and a future vision for cardiovascular and stroke care in Northwestern Ontario. The theme stems from the dedicated clinicians and stakeholders in our region who provide quality care for cardiovascular and stroke patients.

Participants will be emerged in a comprehensive education program that includes plenary lectures, breakout sessions, clinical simulation labs, case studies and more. At the conclusion of this Summit, participants will be able to apply practical skills to enhance care delivery, discuss current Canadian best practices, research and emerging evidence along the continuum of care and collaborate with new regional and inter-provincial partners.

In addition to the education program, a panel presentation entitled “The Survivorship: Through the eyes of the patient” will help to kick off the Summit. This presentation, which is aimed at the public, will feature six expert panelists who will highlight the patient’s journeys through cardiovascular and stroke care in our region.
