Giving the Gift of World-Class Healthcare this Christmas

Proud parents Sarah Hannah and Blade Miller hold their happy and healthy 7-month old son, Greyson, who was born three months premature at just under 27 weeks. Early in his life, Greyson required a neonatal ventilator, which is one of the items on the Health Sciences Foundation's Christmas Wish List. Donors can make sure babies like Greyson have access to this type of critical, life-saving equipment by making a gift this Christmas. Each donation comes with the opportunity to personalize a star to hang on the Grand Christmas Tree in the lobby of the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre. Today, Sarah and Blade hung Greyson's star - the first on this year's tree.

Donations to fund vital medical equipment at TBRHSC

This Christmas season, the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation is hoping residents in Thunder Bay and the communities in the region will consider a donation to help people – people each of us know and care about – receive world-class healthcare here in Northwestern Ontario.

Specifically, the Foundation is focusing its Christmas Appeal on six pieces of medical equipment that are depended on to deliver reliable, safe patient care every day.

The list includes a comfortable birthing bed for moms, a neonatal ventilator for our littlest patients who can’t breathe on their own, three defibrillators for patients in critical need and an ICP monitor for patients in the Intensive Care Unit. While these may not sound like much, this equipment is depended on to deliver reliable, safe patient care every day. More details on these pieces of equipment and their significance to vital patient care are available online at healthsciencesfoundation.ca/wishlist.

Our donors are the missing piece who can cross each item off the Wish List and put them in the hands of our caring health care professionals.

Our Grand Christmas Tree is decorated in the main lobby of the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre. For each gift that is made this Christmas season, a personalized star will be hung on the tree. Soon we hope our tree will be covered with stars, each representing a generous donation to our Christmas Appeal to support the purchase of this new equipment.

Each year, donations to the Health Sciences Foundation support medical equipment, new technology, local research, education and awareness so the Health Sciences Centre can continue to provide the absolute best care possible to every patient. As a result of gifts from donors, people are healthier and can receive more of the care they need at home.

Gifts can be made at www.healthsciencesfoundation.ca, by calling (807) 345-4673, by mail at 980 Oliver Rd. Thunder Bay, ON P7B 6V4 or in person at the Donation Centre next to Robin’s Donuts inside the Health Sciences Centre.
