ABOUT THE EVENTS
This is a two day course running both Monday, September 16, 2019 and Tuesday, September 17, 2019. You must commit to attending both days.
Please note both days run from 0800h-1600h
Locations: Day 1 and Day 2 both in the Ibn Sina Simulation Lab – Room 3100 (3rd Level – TBRHSC)
This two day introductory course explores, promotes and supports human lactation and breastfeeding through examining current evidence-based, best practice.
Participants will develop their knowledge and understanding of human lactation and breastfeeding, to enable them to confidently and effectively implement care that facilitates and supports the initiation and maintenance of breastfeeding. Participants will examine and demonstrate effective assessment and management skills to support breastfeeding in challenging circumstances.
This course meets the BFI recommendation for the basic education of staff providing direct care to breastfeeding women and their families.
PLEASE NOTE: This course is intended for health care professionals at Thunder Bay Health Sciences Centre, Thunder Bay District Health Unit and regional hospitals.
