Rehabilitation
Stroke rehabilitation is a progressive, dynamic, goal orientated process aimed at enabling a person with impairment to reach their optimal physical, cognitive, emotional, communicative, and/or social functional level. Rehabilitation is a key component of comprehensive stroke care that is provided in acute and post-acute hospital settings, outpatient programs, and in the community.
The NWORSN participates in stroke rehabilitation initiatives involving healthcare providers, policy makers, community agencies, individuals with stroke, their families and caregivers, and the public. A critical component of stroke rehabilitation and recovery is timely access to specialized stroke services, ideally provided by dedicated stroke rehabilitation providers in acute care, inpatient rehabilitation settings and the community.
