Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA) and Mild Non-Disabling Stroke (MNDS) TRIAGE Toolkit for Northwestern Ontario
The Northwestern Ontario Regional Stroke Network has aligned the triage of patients with possible Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA) and Mild Non-Disabling Stroke (MNDS) with the 2014 Canadian Stroke Best Practice Recommendations. A new referral form and algorithm was developed to reflect these changes. This algorithm is designed to guide the community Primary Care Provider and Emergency Department physician to determine stroke risk and a plan of action, based on presenting symptoms and time of occurrence. Our goal is to ensure that patients receive the right care at the right time in the right place. In addition, there is a research component that will evaluate the efficacy and efficiency of the new TIA/MNDS Triage Toolkit in Northwestern Ontario.
