Pap-a-Palooza 2022

Cervical cancer doesn’t stop for COVID-19. Join this year’s Pap-A-Palooza, returning April 2022. This initiative aims to increase cervical cancer screening rates across Northwestern Ontario, especially among individuals who are overdue or who have never been screened.

Pap-A-Palooza has grown from just 10 clinics participating in 2016 to 32 clinics participating in 2019, increasing this Northwestern Ontario event’s cervical screening volume from 200 to more than 700, in their respective years.

When is this happening?

April 1 – 30, 2022

Who can get screened?

Anyone with a cervix between the ages of 25 and 69 years, who has ever been sexually active, should complete a Pap test every 3 years.

Why is it important to get screened? Regular screening is important because it can find cancer early when it may be smaller and easier to treat. Most cervical cancers are found in individuals who have never been screened or have been screened less often than what is recommended by Ontario’s cancer screening guidelines.
