DESCRIPTION:Keep Moving with Stroke at the Canada Games Complex \nDescription\n This class includes aerobic conditioning\, functional strengthening\, mobility and balance exercises specifically designed to meet the needs of those living with chronic stroke.\n The program offers modifications allowing each participant to work at their own comfort level and ability.\nCriteria\n Diagnosis of stroke and living in the community\n Have finished all therapy programs\n Written consent to participate in fitness program from a physician or nurse practitioner (this will be obtained by the health care practitioner)\n Able to follow instruction and have awareness of physical exertion\n Able to walk at least 10 meters /30 feet with or without a walking aid and the ability to perform exercises in standing with or without support\n Free of serious medical problems restricting physical exercise\n Able to tolerate 2x/week exercise sessions for 60 min. with rest breaks\n Transportation to/from Canada Games Complex\n Telephone and physical assessment screen performed by a physiotherapist are required prior to registration to ensure suitability and safety to participate in program\n Once you pre-register you will be contacted to make an appointment for this assessment. \nPoster Keep Moving with Stroke

It is designed for proficient PALS providers who regularly direct or participate in the management of cardiopulmonary arrest or other cardiovascular emergencies in critically ill or injured children and\nwho holds a current PALS Provider certificate. This course assumes a comprehensive awareness\, knowledge and skill proficiency in PALS concepts\, and is best suited for providers who use these skills frequently and therefore require limited practice to be successful. \nLearners will practice and apply their knowledge to case scenarios applying the proven systematic approach to pediatric assessment\, treatment algorithms and coordinated high-performance team dynamics\, in both team leader and team member roles. \nCourse Pre-requisites: \nParticipants must have a current Heart and Stroke BLS certificate within 12 months of the course. \nParticipants should be proficient in: \n– ECG interpretation \n– PALS medication administration \n– Bag-mask ventilation \nSign up early as space is limited \n**Priority registration for staff working in ICU\, & ED.\nView Attachment \nProvider manuals (mandatory) and ECC Handbooks (optional) can be purchased in the Season’s Gift shop for $60 and $38 respectively.

The Heart and Sroke Foundation has designated its advanced life support courses with basic life support skills as the foundation. Current theoretical foundations and evidence supporting an NDT approach\nwill be presented as well as specific and practical information about the management of the adult neurological\npatient.
