SUMMARY:National Forum on Literacy and Health Thunder Bay
DESCRIPTION:Despite Canada’s universal healthcare\, not all Canadians have the same opportunities to enjoy good health and have the ability to understand and navigate health care services. There are many interconnected factors affecting our health and wellbeing. Literacy is one of those factors. \nFrontier College’s national forum will examine the role of literacy as a determinant of health. The panel will consider how the stigma surrounding low literacy\, and medical systems and practices that assume strong literacy skills\, may impact a person’s ability to make use of the health services they need. The forum will be webcast live from Winnipeg to satellite conferences in Toronto\, Whitehorse\, Vancouver\, Edmonton\, Saskatoon\, Thunder Bay\, and Halifax. \nThe national forum is sponsored by Great-West Life\, London Life\, and Canada Life. \nFor more information\, contact: Cathy Mehagan at cmehagan@frontiercollege.ca \nOnline registration at: https://frontiercollege.wufoo.eu/forms/national-forum-on-literacy-and-health-thunder-bay/ \nOr at www.frontiercollege.ca
