Accreditation
Working Together for Better Quality and Safety in Health Care Delivery
What is Accreditation?
Accreditation is a process that helps health care organizations measure how well they are meeting national standards for quality and safety.
Through Accreditation, hospitals review their programs, services, and practices to understand what they are doing well and where they can improve. This ongoing process helps ensure patients receive safe, high-quality care.
Why does Accreditation matter?
Accreditation helps build a strong culture of quality and safety across the organization. It helps ensure that patients and families can expect reliable, high-quality care in hospitals across Canada.
For Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre (TBRHSC), Accreditation also supports continuous improvement and strengthens our partnerships with patients, families, and the community. Ultimately, better quality care leads to better health outcomes for everyone we serve.
Upcoming Accreditation Survey
The next Accreditation on-site survey for TBRHSC will take place May 11–14, 2026.
What to Expect
During the site visit, surveyors will spend time at the hospital learning about our programs and services. They may speak with staff, patients, and families to better understand how we work together to provide safe, high-quality care. Participation is voluntary, and the visit will not affect the care you receive in any way.
